NFL: This former player was robbed of $1.9 million by his ex-wife’s boyfriend

Former Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas had his identity and $1.9 million stolen by his ex-wife’s new partner.

NOLA.com learned Tuesday that the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Kevin J. Thompson, the boyfriend of Nina Thomas.

The 38-year-old man, who was handcuffed in June, is accused of cashing paychecks, stealing from bank accounts and transferring ownership of several of Thomas’s vehicles into her name.

Thompson is also charged with identity theft, forgery, money laundering, credit card fraud, computer fraud and bank fraud.

In May 2022, the defendant allegedly used a driver’s license in Thomas’ name, but with a photo of him, to create a fake bank account. He was also arrested while behind the wheel of the former footballer’s Rolls-Royce.

Thomas played in the NFL from 2010 to 2019, primarily wearing the Seahawks’ colors. He was named to the Goodell Tour All-Star Team three times and won Super Bowl XLVIII.

This isn’t the first time the Texas native and his ex-wife have made headlines. In 2020, Nina Thomas was arrested for pointing a gun at her husband after breaking into an Airbnb to surprise him while he was having an affair with another woman. She filed for divorce in November of that year.
