Israeli forces raided Hamas’ security headquarters “in the heart of Gaza City, near Shifa Hospital,” IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said.
“The security barracks area is the core of the terrorist organization’s operational and intelligence activities and was used, among other things, to plan and prepare its forces for the murderous attack on October 7th,” the official statement said.
Read the rest of the text, which criticizes “the cynical use of Gazans as human shields”:
“In recent days, the infantry, armored and engineer forces of the Givati Brigade Combat Team have been working to clear the area and neutralize the many terrorist infrastructures, one of which is large and underground, while conducting continuous battles. and eliminated dozens of terrorists.
So far, more than 50 terrorists have been killed in fierce fighting in the district. In addition, intelligence documents and several significant tunnel shafts were found. Factories producing antitank missiles and antitank rocket launchers were destroyed.
The security headquarters consists of Hamas’ strategic terror sites, including the terrorist organization’s central intelligence headquarters and air defense headquarters, as well as Hamas offices, including the Interior Ministry and police station.
In addition, the area is home to Gaza’s largest urban combat training facilities, military outposts, warehouses and several munitions factories (missiles, antitank missiles, UAVs and cargo).
All of the above terrorist infrastructures are located at the heart of a civilian population. This is further evidence of the terrorist organization’s cynical use of Gaza residents as human shields for its murderous terrorist activities.
The fighting in the security barracks area is still ongoing.”
Previously, the IDF also released the following note:
“There is no ceasefire. There are tactical and local pauses in humanitarian assistance to civilians in the Gaza Strip. These tactical breaks are limited in time and space. We are also providing humanitarian corridors for civilians in Gaza to temporarily move south to safer areas where they can receive humanitarian assistance.
Our war is against Hamas, not against the people of Gaza.”
