Nicki Minaj opens up about life as a mother in Vogue magazine’s latest cover story.
The rapper gave birth to a son with husband Kenneth Petty on September 30, 2020, whose name she has not yet revealed.
Nicki, 40, posed with her three-year-old, who she nicknamed “Papa Bear” during the photo shoot, she revealed.
The artist cradles her sleeping son in her arms while wearing a pink jacket.
Nicki said of her son, “When I look at my son’s face, my whole soul lights up.”

Nicki continued: “You want to be in control of everything, but that’s the easiest way to be unhappy. “Now when I try to control everything, I try to remember what’s really important.”
“When I look at my son’s face, my whole soul lights up. “He has no idea how nerve-wracking it has been for me to be a mother and an artist,” the rapper added.
For the cover photo, Nicki wore a cream satin dress with a ruffled accent at one hip.
The dress featured a draped neckline that accentuated her ample cleavage.

Her husband, Kenneth Petty, knew her before she was famous.
The couple married in 2019, but he was previously a high school friend of hers and grew up just blocks from her in Queens, New York City.
She told the magazine that there is a “relaxation” with her husband since she has known him for so long.
Kenneth and Nicki lost touch for years and got back together in 2018.
They first met at LaGuardia High School and dated briefly as teenagers.
Kenneth is a registered sex offender; He was convicted in 1995 of attempted first-degree rape of a 16-year-old girl and sentenced to four years in prison.
He is considered a Level 2 offender in New York State, meaning he is a “moderate risk to reoffend.”
Petty was stopped by Beverly Hills police in November 2019 and discovered that he was registered as a sex offender in New York, although he had not registered in California when he moved, which is required of him.
Petty pleaded guilty at the time; Prosecutors recommended 15 months in prison and five years of supervised release rather than home confinement because he lived with Nicki in a gated community in Calabasas, which they said was not much of a “punishment.”
