According to a survey by Conibe and Fisesp, antiSemitism in Brazil is increasing by almost 1,000%
AntiSemitism is on the rise in Brazil, with a nearly 1,000% increase since the war between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas began on October 7. The data comes from a joint survey by Israeli Confederation of Brazil (Conibe) and from Israeli Federation of the State of São Paulo (Fisesp).
From January to October, reports of acts and threats against Jews in Brazil increased by 133% compared to the same period in 2022.

In October, cases of antiSemitism exploded. There were 467 complaints recorded, compared to 44 in October 2022, an increase of 961%.
“Jews are hated and persecuted and are victims of intolerance simply because they are Jews. But people forget that antiSemitism is a form of racism and racism in Brazil is a crime,” he comments. Daniel BialskiVice President of Conibe.

Fear of those who experienced the Holocaust
Today, at 91 years old, Margot Bina Rotstein She was a child when she had to flee with her family because she was persecuted as a Jew. She remembers the horrors of the Nazi era and suffers from the fear that the feeling of hatred against Jews could arise again.
“The Gestapo came to my house twice, they searched everything because they wanted my father. My father managed to escape, he left my aunt’s house, he came home and we went straight to the train station. When we arrived at the train station, we couldn’t take absolutely anything with us. Just the clothes on your back. I even had a little doll, I still remember it today, she had to stay there too,” says Margot.
