Suspected cocaine traffickers were brutally dragged out of bed early Thursday morning when Longueuil police officers arrived unannounced at their homes and handcuffed them.
At dawn, a few dozen police officers carried out ten simultaneous searches in the areas of Longueuil, Brossard, Saint-Hubert, Laval and Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur.
A total of seven people were arrested in the strike against suspected drug traffickers.
The suspects are five men and two women between the ages of 37 and 61.
The seven arrested people were expected to be received by investigators and could appear in the coming hours on various drug-related charges.
During the searches, police seized more than a kilo of cocaine, 9 kg of cannabis, more than 6,000 synthetic drug tablets, a firearm (rifle), six “air soft” guns, a cocaine press, cell phones, scales and $17,000 in cash and four vehicles as criminal property.
The police strike was carried out in collaboration with the Montreal City Police Department, the Laval Police Department, the Régie intermunicipale de Police Richelieu Saint-Laurent and the Sûreté du Québec.
