According to Adnkronos, Pino Insegno will not host the next edition of the Rai 1 program L’Eredità, as envisaged in the presentation of the schedule for the 2023/2024 season. Adnkronos writes that Banijay Italia, the company that owns the rights to the Eredità format, asked to be allowed to choose the host when extending the expired two-year contract with Rai. The program will be broadcast from next January 1st and filming is scheduled to begin in December: According to the news agency’s reconstructions, the choice of presenter could now fall on Flavio Insinna, who hosted it from 2015 to the last season, or on Marco Liorni, current presenter by Reazione a Catena, which is also broadcast on Rai 1.
The program of the most important Rai channels was renewed about two months ago, but the ratings were immediately rather disappointing. One of the most problematic Rai programs is Il Mercante in Fiera, hosted by Insegno, a long-time friend of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who should also have hosted L’Eredità. On the day of its premiere, “The Merchant at the Fair” had 638,000 viewers, which corresponds to a market share of 3.4 percent, and recorded no significant growth thereafter. For this reason, in recent weeks there has been talk of the possibility of abolishing the program or reviewing its management. However, these hypotheses were denied by Rai CEO Roberto Sergio. Insegno’s manager Diego Righini said he had not received any communication from Banijay Italia or Rai.
