An inconsistency regarding Mary Ingalls crept into Season 2 of Little House on the Prairie. During one episode, Charles’ young daughter suddenly developed a fear that she did not have in a previous episode. We’ll explain it to you.
Episode 15 of Little House on the Prairie Season 2 is unique to the series. Titled “A Question of Trust,” Karen Grassle allows the light to shine and place Caroline Ingalls at the center of the story. In this story, she seriously injures her leg while Charles and her daughters are on a trip.
A small error with no impact on Little House on the Prairie
Luckily, everything turns out well for her and her injury is healed by the end of the episode… But there’s another little plot twist that interests us here. While traveling with Charles and his other sisters, Mary goes swimming but is hesitant to enter the water because she fears it might be too deep. Melissa Sue Anderson’s character appears to be afraid of water… A fear that creates a small inconsistency compared to a previous episode.
In Promises, Season 7 of Little House on the Prairie’s second season, Mary, accompanied by Laura, doesn’t hesitate for a moment to jump into the water to save drowning puppies. Had fear set in in the meantime or was there a simple script oversight?
This inconsistency remains a very minor flaw in Little House on the Prairie, one that is more chuckle-inducing than anything else and has no bearing on the series’ main plot.
