LIVE Hamas Israel conflict: Hebrew state claims to have repelled rocket attacks and attacks on Syria

The Israeli army said it intercepted rockets heading toward its territory on Thursday and attacked Syria on Friday after a drone crashed into a school in southern Israel. The drone crashed into a school in the Red Sea resort of Eilat on Thursday, causing no injuries. In response, the Israeli army from Syria attacked “the organization that carried out the attack,” she said on X, without mentioning the name of that organization. Israel “holds the Syrian regime responsible for any terrorist attack originating from its territory,” she warned.

In Eilat, the affected school was damaged and rescue workers treated seven people in shock. The coastal city is home to tens of thousands of people who were evacuated from northern Israel and the Gaza border region, where fighting is raging between the Israeli army and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.

The Israeli army also announced on Thursday that it had used its long-range Arrow 3 missile defense system to intercept a projectile fired “from the Red Sea region,” with Yemen’s Houthi rebels claiming ballistic missiles against it to have fired Israel. This is the first time that the Arrow-3 system, jointly developed and produced by Israel and the United States and deployed in 2017, has intercepted a target in operational conditions.
