American diplomats in the Arab world have warned the Biden administration that its strong support for Israel’s military operation in Gaza will “cause” the United States to lose the support of the Arab public “for a generation,” a diplomatic cable obtained by CNN has. The news, writes the American broadcaster, underscores the deep concern of US officials over the growing anger against the United States, which came immediately after the start of Israeli operations against Hamas following the group’s attacks in Israel on October 7, in which over 1,400 Israelis died, exploded. “We are losing a lot on the intelligence battlefield,” said the cable sent Wednesday from the U.S. Embassy in Oman, citing conversations with “a variety of trusted, sober contacts.” Strong U.S. support for Israel’s actions, the cable warns, “will be seen as material and moral guilt for what they consider possible war crimes.” The cable was written by the second-highest American official in Muscat and sent, among other things, to the National Security Council of the United States White House, CIA and FBI sent.
