More than 48 employees have been fired for ethical violations at the Department of Transportation

Absenteeism, theft, fraud, misrepresentations… more than 48 employees of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD) were fired in almost five years for breaches of the code of ethics, one has learned The newspaper.

In comparison, there was only one dismissal for these reasons at the Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Energy (MEIE).

Neither the Régie de l’énergie nor the Société du Plan Nord nor the Office of Public Hearings on the Environment (BAPE) had any, as we were able to confirm based on requests for information.

The situation is completely different at the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD), which had to dismiss almost fifty people for non-compliance with the Code of Ethics during the same period.

Of those 48 people laid off, more than 22 employees were shown the door for lack of attendance, absenteeism, unjustified absence or even for failing to comply with a formal notice of termination, Le Journal noted.

A dozen or so were fired because of incompetence or simply not submitting their diplomas on time.

Four employees were fired for theft

Four workers were fired for theft, time theft or fraud.

Disobedience cost three Department of Transportation employees their jobs, as did lack of respect or inappropriate behavior.

Two were also dismissed for drug or alcohol impairment, and two more were dismissed for making false statements.

The Department of Transportation has been repeatedly asked to respond to these repeated violations of the ethics code, but was unable to provide a statement Thursday.
