Former Home and Away star and X Factor finalist Johnny Ruffo lost his battle with brain cancer on Friday at the age of 35.
And throughout his fight, one person was always by his side: his girlfriend, Tahnee Sims.
The 29-year-old, who works in product development for fast fashion brand White Fox Boutique, was described by Ruffo as his “guardian angel”.
“Without her I might not be here,” Johnny told Now To Love last year.

The couple met at a dance studio in 2015 and have been inseparable ever since.

Tahnee regularly attended appointments with Johnny and shared clips of the star’s treatment.
“She is remarkable. “I can’t praise her enough for how amazing she was and how much I could rely on her for support,” he recently told Perth radio station Youth Jam.
“I honestly don’t know how she did it. Sometimes I feel like she’s had a harder time than I have because she had to go through everything with me – except the actual chemo – but she also had to deal with me, my ups and downs and the way I was. to be crazy.”
Johnny opened up about his worries about how Tahnee would cope after his death in a heartbreaking interview on The Project last year.
“You can only imagine how difficult it was for her,” he told then-host Carrie Bickmore.

“What goes through my mind a lot is, I hate to say this, how hard it could be for them if something happened to me.”
“So, it’s something I don’t want to think about. “It just makes me a little emotional because I know that at some point something is going to happen, whether it’s a month from now or 10 years from now or 20 years from now.”
Ruffo also told Bickmore that he had already exceeded his life expectancy.
“It’s going to get to me at some point, but I’m still fighting.” It’s still going on. If you look at my diagnosis and my tumor, the average life expectancy is three years,” he said.
The singer explained in an excerpt from his new memoir, No Finish Line, that he hoped to start a family with Tahnee.

“It is with heavy hearts that we had to say goodbye to our beloved Johnny today,” they said in a statement.
“Surrounded by his partner Tahnee and family, Johnny’s journey was peaceful, supported by some incredible nurses and doctors.
“He was a very talented, charming and sometimes cheeky boy.” Johnny was very determined and strong-willed. He fought until the end and fought as hard as he could. Such a beautiful soul who still has so much to give.
“We all love you, Johnny, and will remember you for all the joy you brought into our lives. ‘Sleep peacefully.’

He was first diagnosed in 2017 and underwent life-saving surgery in which a tumor that was then seven centimeters in size was successfully removed.
Born in the Perth suburb of Balcatta, Ruffo’s showbiz career began when he successfully auditioned for the third season of The X Factor Australia in 2011.
A music career followed, during which Ruffo released several hit singles, including On Top and Take It Home.
However, he is perhaps best known for his role as fan favorite Chris Harrington on Home and Away between 2013 and 2016.
In 2020, he also appeared in that series’ soap rival series Neighbors.
