The director of Black Swan And Requiem for a dreamDarren Aronofsky will direct a biopic about Elon Musk, the A24 studio confirmed to AFP on Friday, winning a tough competition for the rights to a biography of the quirky billionaire.

The film is based on Walter Isaacson’s work, released in the US in September, which depicts a complex human being obsessed with the conquest of space and brutal management methods.

“The deal was highly competitive, with major studios and directors in the running,” an A24 spokeswoman told AFP, without giving further details on a possible filming or release date.

American Darren Aronofsky, who also recently directed the feature film The Whale in collaboration with A24, “must direct and produce the film with his production company,” the spokesman said.

A24 is also behind the hit film Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.

Walter Isaacson, whose book Elon Musk quickly became a bestseller, also wrote a biography of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs (2011), which was later made into a film starring Michael Fassbender.
