Israel’s ambassador to the UN questioned the credibility of information about those injured and killed in the Gaza Strip. “Who provides these facts to the UN? “Does this information come from impartial and unbiased third parties?” Gilad Erdan told the UN Security Council yesterday.
“The answer is no. “All information about the situation on the ground that this council receives comes from Hamas and not from international UN staff in Gaza,” Erdan said.
UN trusts information from Gaza
More than 10,000 people were killed in the territory last month, according to the latest United Nations figures based on information from the Hamas-run health authority in the Gaza Strip.
The UN insists they trust the information. Other observers have also recently highlighted that the authority’s information has proven reliable in the past.
The West Bank Ministry of Health, which is under the control of the Palestinian Authority (PA), estimates the number of deaths in the Gaza Strip at more than 11,000. According to its own information, the authority still has its own employees in the Gaza Strip. The terrorist organization Hamas violently took control of the now isolated coastal strip in 2007.
