The Quebec Remparts suffered another defeat on Friday evening. This time they lost the Gatineau Olympics 3-2.
It is the third defeat in a row for head coach Éric Veilleux’s team. The reigning Memorial Cup champions have gone 7-12 so far in the 2023-24 season.
In today’s duel it was a goal from Joey Vetrano that made the difference in favor of the crowd favorite. The Olympic striker scored less than five minutes into the final third.
Goaltender Zach Pelletier did the rest, firing a total of 44 shots, including 18 in the third period.
Other scorers for the winner were Jérémie Minville and Cory MacGillivray. The first of his two skaters has now scored 12 goals this season.
The Remparts’ response came from Nathan Plouffe and Andrew Gweon. In front of the “Red Devils” goal, Quentin Miller saved 20 of his rivals’ 23 shots.
The Remparts will look to get back to winning ways this Saturday when they face the Olympics at Slush Puppie Center.
