Spare part (The replacement) by Prince Harry and The woman in me (The woman in me) by Britney Spears have sold the largest number of printed copies of celebrity biographies in America since the beginning of the year.
According to data from Circana BookScan — which collects data on U.S. points of sale for print copies of books through direct reporting from independent bookstores and major retailers — Prince Harry’s book has sold 1.19 million print copies since its release on Jan. 10, reported Forbes. Britney Spears’ autobiography has been printed 417,947 times as of October 24 – and more than a million times across all formats.
Given the eight months that have passed between the two publications, La Femme en moi (published by JC Lattès in France) could surpass the sales of The Subléant (published by Fayard in France) by the end of the year.
Other best-selling memoirs of 2023 in the United States include Pageboy: a Memoir by Elliot Page (67,038 copies sold) and Love, Pamela: a Memoir of Prose, Poetry, and Truth (Love) by Pamela Anderson ( 58,464 copies sold). and Paris: the Memoir by Paris Hilton (46,637 copies sold).
Forbes reports that Barbra Streisand’s memoir “My Name Is Barbra,” released Nov. 7, has been a bestseller since it went on sale in February. However, there are no sales figures for the diva’s work yet, nor for Being Henry: The Fonz… and Beyond by Henry Winkler, published on October 31st.
