More than 20,000 trucks are stopped at the border between Poland and Ukraine

More than 20,000 trucks were waiting to cross the three main border posts between Ukraine and Poland this Thursday (September 11). The blockade began earlier this week by Polish truck drivers to denounce “unfair” competition from their Ukrainian neighbors there is a European Union (EU) agreement that has given Ukrainian vehicles full access to the European bloc since the start of the war with Russia February 2022.

“More than 20,000 vehicles are currently blocked on both sides (of the border),” the Ukrainian Ministry of Reconstruction said on Telegram, adding that the situation was harming the economies of Poland and Ukraine, but also “other” countries.

At border crossings, Ukrainian truck drivers wait for days to cross. Polish organizers say the protest could be a longterm action. Cars and buses run normally.
