Pope Francis fires conservative bishop who criticized him Revista Oeste

Pope Francis fired Bishop Joseph Strickland this Saturday the 11th. The conservative, religious man from North America criticizes the more leftwing leadership of the leader of the Catholic Church. Recently Francisco authorized Transsexuals can be baptized and attend weddings.

The Holy See did not disclose the reason for Strickland’s dismissal, who has criticized Francis since 2012. Earlier this year, the then bishop accused His Holiness of “undermining the heritage of the faith.” After publicly expressing his dissatisfaction, Strickland began denouncing internal pressures in the church to abandon the apostolate.

“I cannot resign as Bishop of Tyler because that would mean abandoning the flock,” Strickland wrote in early September of this year. “I will respect the authority of Pope Francis when he removes me as Bishop of Tyler.” The text was published three months after Francis sent a delegation to “inspect” the site where Strickland preaches the Word of God.

Francis replaced Strickland with his ally Joe Vasquez, also a bishop. Change is extremely rare because when problems arise, the religious in question are called upon to speak and ultimately encouraged to resign.
