Covid 19 cases decline in Guatemala, excluding communities in red

Guatemala City, November 11 (Prensa Latina) The number of active cases of Covid-19 has fallen from 300 in Guatemala and no municipality is at the highest alert level for the disease, according to official data released today.

Of the 340 border markers of this type in the country, 42 are in orange (fewer than in the last report), 298 in yellow and none appear in green, the report from the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare said.

The SARS-CoV-2 health light in this portfolio shows the behavior of this virus throughout the Chapín area over the last 14 days.

The registered active cases barely reach 231, while they were 333 in the previous report, and in the two weeks of April and May the number of infected in the country remained between 1,500 and 1,900.

By the end of June 23, positive levels reached 4,433 and rose to 5,157 in the two weeks ending July 7 last year.

They peaked at 6,116 in the middle of the month, although August also required close attention.

Since March 13, 2020, when the government announced the first positive patient here amid the global emergency, the number of infections stands at one million 279,000 162 cases.

On the other hand, 20,265 Guatemalans died from the disease, representing a mortality rate of 120.2 per 100,000 inhabitants and a fatality rate of 1.6 percent.

The Ministry of Health once again urged the population to continue preventive measures such as washing hands with soap and water, keeping distance and wearing a mask, as they are key to avoiding an increase in infections.

Guatemala barely exceeds 52 percent of the population vaccinated against Covid-19 with one dose, 41.5 with two (7.1 million inhabitants out of a total of 17.11 million).
