Armed man in home German police found several weapons

German police advanced on Saturday to the house of the armed man who has been hiding in the municipality of Milower Land (state of Brandenburg) for more than 30 hours. In the evening, it was said that several weapons, ammunition and other dangerous items were seized from the house and residential area. Among them was a hand grenade, a Brandenburg police spokeswoman told the German Press Agency.

The police have not yet managed to subdue the man. Special forces have been entering the building since Saturday afternoon and working in and around the house. “The suspect is a highly aggressive person,” said the police spokeswoman. Access therefore requires additional preparation. Officer safety is the top priority.

The man had already fired several shots before the police operation. Another man and a child with his mother were originally in the building. The child and woman managed to leave the building on Saturday night. The second man was arrested on Friday afternoon as he left home. Police arrived with a large contingent on Friday afternoon to enforce a district court order and turn the child over to the juvenile welfare office.
