Two dismissals for ethical violations at the AMF: “The agency is subject to very strict, very strict rules”

We have learned that two Financial Markets Authority (AMF) employees have been fired for ethical breaches in the last five years The newspaper.

The first case is a “refusal to recognize the applicability of the rules on securities transactions and to respect them,” Benoit Longtin, deputy secretary general of the Financial Markets Authority, told the Journal in response to a request for access to information.

The second case concerned “failure to comply with the rules on public communication (public statements/behavior that could damage the image or reputation of the authority)”.

Remember that the AMF aims to “increase the trust of individuals and businesses in financial institutions and other participants in the financial sector.”

The AMF calmed down

When asked by Le Journal last Friday to comment on the issue, the AMF said it was reassured that there had been no cases of dismissals for fraud in the last five years.

Regarding the two cases of dismissals for violating the Code of Ethics, the AMF defended itself on the grounds that this reflected the high level of its ethical standards.

“This figure shows that the environment in which the authority’s approximately 800 employees work is subject to very strict, very strict rules aimed precisely at the highest ethical level within the organization,” emphasized its spokesman Sylvain Théberge.

Last Friday, Le Journal reported that the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD) had dismissed more than 48 employees during the same period, particularly due to absenteeism and theft.
