But you can also teach your pet a few tricks at home, you know?

Training your dog at home can be a way to improve your pet’s behavior, health, and relationship with you and other people.

There are some tips that can help you with this process such as:

  • Start training early as puppies learn more easily and avoid unwanted habits. But remember that even adult dogs can be trained with patience and affection.
  • Reward your dog with treats, toys, affection, and words of encouragement when he obeys your commands. This promotes learning and motivation for your pet.
  • Don’t fight, teach. If your dog does something wrong, don’t yell at him or hit him. Just show him how to do it right and give him positive reinforcement when he does it right. Fights can make your pet unsteady, fearful, or nervous, making training difficult.
  • Teach him basic commands, such as: E.g. “sit”, “sit down”, “stay”, “scratch”, “come” and “fetch”. These commands can help you control your dog in different situations and are fun for you and your dog. With a collar, leash, and treat, you can learn these commands in a few easy steps.
  • If necessary, get your dog used to being alone at home. You can do this gradually by offering the cat a toy and leaving it for a few minutes. Return without having a party and reward your pet when it is quiet. Repeat this process until he feels comfortable being alone for long periods of time.
