“On Saturday, that sad, dark morning, Grandma left one by one. Oma is the German term for grandmother. Grandma is the mother of my Norm, the grandmother of Sarah and Léane, who 17 months later no longer have grandparents… Grandma had met Gocho Klinkow, her Bulgarian grandfather, when she immigrated here to Montreal: his city, his host country.

With Gocho, they created a strong and brilliant family. Fate, which is sometimes so sweet, allowed Norman and I to cross our paths and go out on the road together… I imagine that Grandma is well surrounded, especially by Mom and Dad, who love her so much admired. But above all, I imagine her alongside her husband Georges (Gocho), who suddenly left in 1987, and her sister Erna, whom she left behind in Germany so long ago… She was desperate to find her one day. I am convinced that she was welcomed with open arms by Thomas, her son who left so early and so sadly… I am so proud of the precious legacy she leaves to my daughters: her immense kindness, her determination and their courage only the immensity and splendor of the landscapes of his Bavarian homeland surpass him. Grandma, you are forever in our hearts.

The last few months have been particularly difficult for Josée Lavigueur, who lost her father in March 2022 and most recently her mother in June 2023.

Her Facebook post has received hundreds of comments from followers sending her lots of love.

We join them in taking this opportunity to express our sincere condolences to Josée Lavigueur and her family.
