According to authorities, three people were killed in Russian attacks in the center of the city of Kherson, in southern Ukraine, and in a suburb. At least a dozen other people were injured in Monday’s attacks, according to the head of the local military administration, Roman Mroschko.

In the city center, a hospital, an administrative building, several residential buildings and an ambulance were damaged or destroyed, according to regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin. In a suburb, a man was killed and a two-month-old girl was injured when a family’s car was hit by an artillery strike and caught fire, according to the head of the military administration, Mroshko.

The president’s wife, Olena Selenska, shared a video online showing a child with bloody head and clothes being taken to a hospital by paramedics. “Something like this happens every day in our cities because of brutal attacks” by Russia, Zelenska wrote.

On Saturday, Ukraine celebrated the anniversary of the recapture of Kherson from Russian troops. However, Russian soldiers remain not far from Kherson, across the Dnipro River, and the city is regularly shelled.

According to authorities, only about 60,000 people now live in Kherson, compared to 300,000 residents before Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine began in February 2022.
