A report on the Banksy work stolen from the Bataclan

A report on the Banksy work stolen from the Bataclan hall and four other suggestions you can see on TV today

On La 2, Documentos TV broadcasts a report on Banksy’s work The Sad Girl, which the artist painted on the door of the Bataclan room. Also in La 2, Órbita Laika takes a scientific look at the world of ants. La Sexta offers a new episode of Space Envoy, which in this case explores the hidden sides of cocoa production. As for the films of the day, SyFy is airing a blockbuster of the caliber of Peter Jackson’s King Kong, while Movistar Indie is delivering a devastating and crushingly bad work from Yorgos Lanthimos, Canino.

‘Canine’

7:55 p.m., Movistar Indie

Dog, by Yorgos Lanthimos

Kynodontas. Greece, 2009 (95 minutes). Director: Yorgos Lanthinos. Performers: Christos Stergioglou, Aggeliki Papoulia, Mary Tsoni.

Today, the name Yorgos Lanthimos is already somewhat popular among film fans thanks to works like “Lobster” and “The Sacrifice of a Sacred Deer,” but in 2009 he was an unknown filmmaker who shook up the Cannes festival with this film of unfathomable subject matter and visuals – captivating depth. Formal nudity. A horror film shot in broad daylight, Canino is an analysis that reveals the fear and suffering of a society that seeks refuge in self-affirmation to hide its panic. A hallucinatory portrait of a family trapped in an endogamous microcosm, obsessed with loathing the outside world, which inevitably becomes their mirror.

“King Kong”

10 p.m., SyFy

King Kong by Peter Jackson

USA-New Zealand, 2005 (179 m). Director: Peter Jackson. Actors: Naomi Watts, Adrien Brody.

It’s always wise to recreate Peter Jackson’s approach to the mythical film icon. The director fulfilled a personal dream with a mammoth film that is undoubtedly over-the-top, but contains an exemplary first hour of footage that recaptures the aesthetics of classic cinema. After the appearance of the giant gorilla, the film descends into excess, but in its images you can feel the love that Jackson has for his story, and a precise portrait of the characters shines through, drawn with unparalleled ease.

“Laika Orbit” and the world of ants

10 p.m., La 2

Orbita Laika, broadcast on La 2

In this episode, the room La 2, dedicated to science, analyzes the world of ants. What are the benefits of pheromones? How do they relate to algorithms? How is an ant colony classified? These are some of the questions the program asks, in addition to examining any genetic tricks that occur within a colony, for example to ensure that all worker ants are always female or that a future queen ant is born when necessary.

The other side of cocoa production

10:30 p.m., sixth

Jalis de la Serna

In the special envoy’s room, the report “The Other Face of Cacao” will be premiered under the direction of Jalis de la Serna. The program travels to Ivory Coast, the country where 40% of the cocoa that enters Spain comes from. But behind this very common product lies a terrible reality: that of untrained children working in devastated fields and forests without any control. And all this in front of the eyes of the marketing companies and the big brands who wash their conscience with seals that supposedly certify fair trade but in reality do not fulfill their mandate.

“TV Documents”: Banksy and the Bataclan

23.50, La 2

Banksy's work The Sad Girl

On the eighth anniversary of the attacks on the Bataclan theater in Paris, Documentos TV broadcasts the report “Bansky and his stolen girl”. Three years after the event, with an act recorded by the room’s cameras, the artist left his mark on the door of the Bataclan with a powerful and symbolic work of urban art that became a tribute to the victims of the attack. However, a few months later, the same Bataclan camera recorded three people tearing open the door with The Sad Girl and taking her away.
