The little girl’s parents fought for months against British doctors who had recommended stopping the treatment that saved the baby’s life, arguing it was useless and painful.
There is no cure for mitochondrial diseases, which are genetic and prevent the body’s cells from producing energy.
Last Friday, the court decided that the treatment had to be stopped in a hospital and not at the parents’ home, as requested by them. The baby was then taken to a medical center.
