Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard has shifted into second gear.
In the games against the Tampa Bay Lightning (Thursday) and the Florida Panthers (Sunday), the first pick in the last draft scored four goals and provided two assists for six points.

Bedard has 13 points in as many games so far this season and is the top scorer among first-year players in the National League.
The young prodigy’s recent achievements have greatly impressed his teammates.
“He plays with extra motivation and I think that helps him,” said veteran Tyler Johnson, whose comments were reported by The Hockey News magazine.
“To achieve what he does at 18 years old and with his mentality is really something different. It plays with a “me against the rest of the universe” mentality and I really like that. Since he is a small player, I believe he must be in that state of mind.
After the 4-3 loss to the Panthers, Nick Foligno also spoke about Bedard’s progress in his game.
“A player like this, who can make a difference on his own, allows you to win games or stay in the game. That’s what he did for us tonight [dimanche]said the winger.
“We’re seeing the game starting to slow down for him, and that’s very scary,” Foligno continued.
