“It’s a story that’s just beginning to be told and that everyone can continue to follow in season three.”

“Our thanks go to the creative team who captured these exciting moments and to everyone who achieved what seemed impossible just a short time ago.”

Deadpool actor Ryan, 47, and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Rob, 46, joined forces to buy the football team in 2021 after the Welsh club went bankrupt.

Wrexham is the third oldest professional football club in the world, but has not been represented in the Football League for over 15 years.

Ryan and Rob saw the potential for a true underdog story and helped spread the word, both literally and figuratively, with their investments and marketing.

Speaking to Variety, the pair said they didn’t know what to expect when visiting the Welsh town, but decided to keep the focus of the series on Wrexham and its people.

Ryan said: “If you just read the headlines you’re probably thinking, ‘Oh, this show is going to be funny.’

“It’s going to be a story about two dumb showbiz idiots who go in, fall on their asses, and learn along the way.” But the show literally doesn’t give us the spotlight. It centers the city.”

Incredibly, since the duo took over as co-chairmen, the club has been promoted from the fifth tier of the National League to the second tier of the Football League (pictured with the Vanarama National League Trophy in April).

He added: “The truth is we didn’t know anything when we went in there. “I really struggled at the beginning.

“There’s a moment in the show where I joke that I didn’t know I had the option of not appearing on camera the whole time.”

The show’s first season is currently nominated for six Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program.

The second season is currently airing, with the conclusion scheduled to air exclusively on Disney+ on November 15th.

In the last episode, Wrexham played Yeovil and won 3-0, leaving them just one win away from promotion.

The finale is called Up the Town? and sees Wrexham finally facing either the coveted promotion or the dreaded playoffs.
