During an enriching discussion with Variety magazine, which gave him a platform to express his feelings, the star finally got more serious about the topic of the day.
“I have deep connections with the women in my life, the friends in my life, the family in my life. I am attracted to them as people. I am physically attracted to them as a person. But I’m also very intimidated by them, by their beauty and their presence.
The 21-year-old also spoke openly about her relationship with her body.
“I never really felt like I could relate to the girls around me. To be honest, I never felt like a woman. I have never felt desirable. I have never felt feminine. I have to convince myself that I’m a pretty girl. I identify with the pronoun “she” and things like that, but I’ve never really felt like a girl.”
So if you’re wondering why the artist only wore baggy clothes in recent years, it’s because she was trying to protect herself from other people’s comments and opinions about her body. She felt like she had to “take responsibility” and expose herself, even if she didn’t care. She goes on to say that men do not suffer from this type of treatment.
“I wasn’t trying to stop people from sexualizing me, but I didn’t want people to have access to my body, even visually. I wasn’t strong enough or confident enough to show it. If I had shown it back then I would have been completely devastated if people had said anything.”
Jesse Rutherford’s ex confirmed a poignant observation about himself, a kind of Billie 2.0. “I feel like I’m becoming a person that I really love and doing things that I’m really proud of. In many ways in my life, I feel like I’ve just woken up.
These statements will certainly resonate with many people who are also questioning their sexuality and relationship with their body.
We salute Billie’s courage to open up with complete transparency through a heartfelt speech that will touch her audience!
