Jack Hughes’ return was imminent

The New Jersey Devils could receive excellent news about their star Jack Hughes in the coming days.

If we go by ESPN Network journalist Emily Kaplan’s information, there is actually a “strong chance” that the first overall pick of the 2019 draft returns on Saturday when his club hosts the Rangers of New York.

The Newark-based team wouldn’t rule out the center playing against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday, but it’s actually the weekend game circled on the calendar.

As a reminder, Hughes has been out since November 3 with an upper-body injury after falling against the boards during the matchup against the St. Louis Blues. Since being sidelined, the Devils have struggled greatly, going 1-3-0 in four games.

This season, No. 86 has five goals and 15 assists for 20 points in 10 games.
