Host Mike Gauthier recalled discovering the Cowboys Fringants with his show on Musique Plus on Wednesday night and helping the group gain exposure.
“I saw them arrive, the Cowboys Fringants, at Musique Plus. We helped them get started [la chanson] Marcel Galarneau; We played the music video. They often came to their tour, they came to meet us,” the host recalled in an interview with LCN after the death of Karl Tremblay.
The presenter remembers the incredible charisma of the singer, who knew how to captivate his audience in a unique way.
“His strength, we had the impression that he spoke to each and every one of us. He didn’t sing for the masses, he sang for the rest of us, one and only person,” he said, citing Toune d’Automne, America is Crying and Marcel Galarneau as his favorite Cowboys songs.
“Everyone has something to say about dashing cowboys tonight. They saw a show, they passed them by. [..] It reminds her of the good times of her student life. That is why we are all shocked in Quebec this evening,” continued Mr. Gauthier.
He was also particularly impressed by the modesty of the popular singer, who repeatedly went to Musique Plus over the years to talk about video games on the M. Net show.
“It was fun for me to see someone who could have held his title as the singer of a very popular band, but no, he had a passion and wanted to share it,” Mike Gauthier said.
