The Philadelphia Flyers extended their winning streak by defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1 on Wednesday night at PNC Arena.
It was the Pennsylvania club’s third win in a row. This is the first time since hostilities began in 2023-2024 that head coach John Tortorella’s team has won so many games in a row.
The Flyers quickly took control of the game by scoring twice in the first period. Owen Tippett and Travis Konecny were the authors of these successes.
The other winning goal was scored by Ryan Poehling, who hit the mark in the first minute of the second period. It was the first goal for the Montreal Canadiens’ first-round pick in the 2017 auction this season.
The Canes’ answer came from Stefan Noesen’s stick. Jesperi Kotkaniemi had a difficult evening at work. He had a -2 differential and a low 25% success rate in the faceoff circle.
In goal, Carter Hart stopped 31 pucks in the win, while Pyotr Kochetkov made 20 saves in the loss.
The Flyers and Hurricanes return to action on Saturday. The former receives a visit from the Vegas Golden Knights, the latter hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins.
