This afternoon, strong areas of instability associated with hot and humid air formed in the center and northeast of Argentina. The formations caused heavy rains and storms in several cities in central Argentina, particularly in Buenos Aires province.

In the late afternoon, to the astonishment of residents of the Argentine capital, a large storm cloud passed over the city of Buenos Aires. A large arcshaped cloud moved from the greater Buenos Aires area to the Rio de la Plata.

In Greater Buenos Aires, the storm was not recorded at Ezeiza International Airport, where only rain with thunderstorms and no records of strong wind gusts were reported during the instability.

In the city of Buenos Aires, a weather report from Aeroparque Jorge Newbery suggested heavy rain with thunderstorms and gusts of wind that reached speeds of about 60 km/h at the time of the storm.

Before the storm, the city of Buenos Aires was not very hot. The temperature at Aeroparque was 25°C before the rain and dropped to 19°C after the storm passed.

However, over the center and northeast of Argentina, the atmosphere is hot and humid, ultimately making the atmospheric profile very unstable and favoring the formation of local storms of rain, wind and hail.

In the region of central Argentina and Uruguay there is a risk of new isolated and strong storms on Friday, with the effect of a deep low pressure center in the midlatitudes of South America and the displacement of a cold front.
