When Haniyeh came to power, he was considered a pragmatic politician. According to international media reports, Hamas was trying to polish its image at the time.

When Hamas launched attacks against Israel in October this year, starting the war, Haniyeh said in an interview that the blockade of Gaza’s borders and the normalization of Israel’s relations with Arab countries were some of the reasons for the offensive.

The Israel Defense Forces also announced that the military had found a Hamas naval weapons cache in the early hours of the morning and bombed the group’s other targets in the Gaza Strip.

In addition, troops found explosives, missiles, communications equipment and intelligence documents during the operation.
