National Police agents have arrested 20 ultra fans from various football clubs in Soria, Madrid, Zaragoza and Logroño. Those arrested are allegedly accused of public order crimes, injury and damage to property, hatred and membership in a criminal organization.

The events occurred last Saturday, May 27, in Soria during the celebration of the match between the football teams CD Numancia and UE Cornellá of the Primera RFEF. On the same day, around 60 people celebrated the anniversary of the founding of one of these groups with a celebration near Soria.

After completing the Capea, the majority of participants traveled by bus near the football stadium hours before the game. When they left the bus, they went to the place where the members of the enemy group were, attacked them, disturbed the public peace and put the elderly and minors present there in a dangerous situation. One person was seriously injured as a result of this violent situation, in which blunt objects were thrown.

Planned attack by radicals

This attack is part of ideologically motivated hate crimes. After appropriate police investigations, the planning of this attack was confirmed, in which ultra groups from both the football teams facing each other that day and other clubs took part. These are radical groups that express great hatred among each other due to their sporting and ideological hostility. According to the investigators, the main groups in this confrontation were “Orgullo Numantino”, “Ligallo Fondo Norte” and “Guetto 28”, which faced the group “Coornehools”.

As has been the case with other similarly turbulent brawls linked to football matches, these violent groups are aware of the displacement of supporters of opposing ideologies and therefore seek to assemble a large physical presence to carry out attacks with greater force, even dangerous ones objects and means. to cause greater damage. The mass appearance gives them greater protection and anonymity, which is further reinforced by the use of black clothing and the veiling of the face.

The investigation was carried out by the Provincial Information Brigades of Soria, Zaragoza, Madrid, Logroño and Leganés, under the coordination of the General Information Commission and the direction of the head of the Instructional Court No. 1 of Soria. Although it also had the support of the National Sports Office (OND). Thanks to judicial and police coordination in four Spanish provinces, the operation resulted in the arrest of 20 people and the investigation of three people against whom statements were made.
