Bela Gil announced the end of her 19year marriage to businessman João Paulo Demasi in January. The chef explained that she made the decision because she missed herself. They had an open relationship meaning they had the freedom to be with other people and are parents to Flor (14) and Nino (6).
The daughter of Gilberto Gil gave an interview to the videocast “Sorry Something” this Wednesday (15). Bela explained that in the final moments of her marriage, she felt the need to put herself first. “One of the reasons for the breakup was the desire to find myself.”
“I missed myself. I wanted to come home and not have to share. I can choose what I eat. You know when you arrive and say, ‘Guys, what do you want for dinner? What do you want?’ to see?’” continued.
Bela stated that it was the first time that she had expressed her wishes and ideas. Despite the separation, she assured that the relationship with her exhusband would not become conflictual. The divorce was amicable. “He is a very fundamental person in my life.”
