CNN released a new audio recording on January 6, 2021, reproducing former President Donald Trump’s words attacking Congress. In an interview recorded for ABC reporter Jonathan Karl’s book “Tired of Winning,” Trump said that if he had been allowed to go to the Capitol, he would have been “very well received” by the crowd. “I wanted to go back. I thought about going back to solve the problem myself. The Secret Service didn’t particularly like the idea,” he said in the March 2021 interview, which could be used against him in the trial.
