Gartlehner once again among the most cited researchers worldwide APA Science

The expert in evidence-based medicine and evaluation has significant influence in his field

A total of 6,849 people received the “Highly Cited Researchers 2023” award. These include 41 researchers working in Austria. One of them is Gerald Gartlehner of the University of Krems, who is once again one of the most cited scientists in the world after 2021 and 2022. The list of “Highly Cited Researchers” is compiled annually by the group’s Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). of Clarivate data.

Publications from the last eleven years were used to analyze the most cited researchers in 2023. In addition to the number of publications in specialized journals, the number of times a work was cited by other specialist colleagues is a measure of the scientific relevance of the researcher’s work. All researchers who rank among the top in their scientific field in the year of research are considered “Highly Cited Researchers”. The data company Clarivate thus identifies scientists who have a significant and broad influence in their field.

“Personally, I am very pleased to have received this award for the third year in a row. This is also a great recognition of our scientific work as a department at Krems University. It shows that evidence-based health research is highly scientifically and socially relevant, the University of Continuing Education Krems has therefore developed a successful research focus,” said Univ.-Prof. Dr. Gerald Gartlehner, Head of the Department of Evidence-Based Medicine and Evaluation at Krems University for Continuing Education.
