Like last year, it was the Cégep Limoilou Titans who won the Bol d’or in Division 1 of college football on Friday evening at the Stade Diablos, defeating André-Grassets Phénix 41 to 30.
This is the first time since the Vanier Cheetahs in 2006 and 2007 that a team has managed to win the championship twice in a row. The young Titans program, barely 15 years old, continued its dominance by winning a fourth Bol d’Or in five appearances.
For head coach Dave Parent, interviewed on the field by TVA Sports after the win, it was mostly a question of resilience and culture. His men, regular season champions with a record of 7-1, held on in this encounter.
Special teams played a big role, especially Alex Bezeau, who returned a punt 89 yards in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Jérémy Ouellette was named the Titans’ player of the game.
