At the beginning of the year, American thrash metal legends Anthrax went into the studio to record nine new songs with producer Jay Ruston (Stone Sour, Avatar, etc.). This month the band returned to the studio to record the rest of the music planned for this album, alongside parts from singer Joey Belladonna.
As shown in the following post recently shared by the band, a very famous friend joined them in the studio for these sessions: Foo Fighters singer/guitarist Dave Grohl. One of the few photos of the musicians in the studio includes the message: “This new album is going to be great.”
Grohl’s visit isn’t all that surprising, as these latest sessions appear to be taking place at the Foo Fighters’ Studio 606 in Los Angeles, California.
It wasn’t made clear whether Grohl would appear on Anthrax’s long-awaited twelfth studio album or if he was just catching up with some old friends.
Last month, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian told That Rocks that he and his bandmates had only really been working on their new album for about a year.
Shortly before, Ian Trunk told Nation With Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM that he hopes the group’s new music will be released in 2024.
The upcoming album will be the third consecutive Anthrax effort to feature the legendary Belladonna, who left the group between 1992 and 2005 and again between 2007 and 2010.
In its five decades of existence, Anthrax has released 11 studio albums, received multiple gold and platinum awards, been nominated for six Grammy Awards and toured the world.
