During an interview for the network Telemundo Speaking from El Salvador, host of the beauty pageant, Sousa said Palacios looked different from the other contestants.

He added that he wanted Nicaragua to win the beauty pageant. “I would love for Nicaragua to win because it is a country that has never won and I hardly think another (contestant) will return with the strong characteristics of this year. “This is a country that deserves to have a (Miss Universe),” he said.
Palacios, 23 years old and a graduate of social communications, shined in the preliminary rounds and the national costume competition for Miss Universe. In an interview, he assured that he enjoyed every appearance on stage. “I had a lot of fun for myself and for my country and this is already a victory,” said the Nicaraguan beauty.
The 72nd edition of Miss Universe will take place on November 18 and Palacios is among the favorites of renowned missologists who, after the preliminary round, believe that Nicaragua will enter the top 10.
