Man goes for a walk when he finds someone pink and furry and needs help

In the heart of Tennessee, USA, a pink pig named Dolly found refuge and love after a harrowing journey.

She escaped an abusive environment and wandered the neighborhood looking for help, attracting the attention of concerned neighbors.

Her story quickly mobilized volunteers, including staff at Kanda Farm Sanctuary, a pioneering center that takes in rescued animals.

Inspired by the animal welfare model, the shelter began its mission several years ago with the goal of providing safe homes for animals rescued from situations of abuse, neglect or exploitation.

The aim is not only to provide medical and physical care, but also to promote an environment of compassion and respect towards animals, consistent with the principles of veganism.

In Dolly’s case, the search was intense, the farmer who found her called the right place, and then the little piggy’s life began to change for the better.

“He fed her and she trusted him enough to go to him,” Kate Yundt, cofounder of Kanda Farm Sanctuary, told The Dodo. “Unfortunately, it’s not easy to catch a pig.”

Dedicated teams searched the area for her for eleven days. After a series of attempts to gain her trust, Dolly was finally surrounded and brought to safety.

The moment was one of relief for everyone involved, but the challenge was far from over.

Transporting Dolly to the animal shelter was a tedious and stressful process.

“It took about 12 hours [receber] The message said she was picked up until she arrived safely at Purdue Large Animal Hospital. We were able to come to Purdue to meet her when she was admitted, and that was a moment of relief for me,” Kate Yundt, cofounder of Kanda Farm Sanctuary, told The Dodo.

She was rescued with an ear injury after being attacked by a dog. She was examined and underwent a medical procedure that required her ear to be removed. He is now recovering well.

Dolly spent a lot of time alone and probably didn’t receive any love before she was kicked out.

She was released and had been surviving on her own since June, according to neighbor Jean.

So basic things like blankets and regular meals are new for Dolly.

She’s a little confused by the whole thing. At first she preferred sleeping in her litter box instead of her bed and eventually went to the toilet in her bed.

And when Dolly arrived safely at Kanda Farm Sanctuary, she began to reveal her true personality.

Despite her initial fear, she showed a soft heart and gentle disposition. The team appreciated his openmindedness, especially those who showed him affection and care.

Now Dolly is in the sanctuary, where she will continue to receive not only medical treatment, but also affection and attention. Their rescue and recovery highlights not only the importance of animal sanctuaries, but also the need for compassion and respect for all living things.

“We are thrilled that Dolly has made a full recovery, both physically and emotionally. In both cases she still has a long way to go, but she will get there,” the animal rights activist added.
