NHL: The Senators end their journey in style

The Ottawa Senators ended their trip to Stockholm, Sweden in style with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday at Avicii Arena.

Striker Josh Norris gave the Ottawa club representatives the victory thanks to a wrist shot that deceived the vigilance of Filip Gustavsson. The first city was also the only player who moved the strings during the shootout.

This win is the second in as many games for DJ Smith’s men in the Swedish capital. As a result, they return to Ottawa with a record of 8-7-0, good for sixth place in the Atlantic section.

However, not everything was a given for the Senators as they were the ones who allowed the first goal of the game at the start of the second period. Rookie Marco Rossi took advantage of a shot from teammate Brock Faber from the blue line to deflect the puck past goaltender Anton Forsberg.

Full-back Erik Brannström scored his first goal of the season at the best time. After a pass from his goalkeeper Forsberg, he equalized at 3:22 in the third period.

The latter also played well and made 24 saves. His opponent Gustavsson, in turn, missed 31 shots.

The Wild will be back in action on Sunday against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the same venue. In the case of the Sens, they host the New York Islanders on Friday.
