According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, an IDF helicopter gunship attempted to attack Hamas militants but “apparently” hit “the revelers.”
The international press treated reports that an IDF helicopter had hit Israelis as “fake news.” The attack, which Israel blamed on Hamas, was used by Israel to justify its most intensive bombing of the Gaza Strip in years. The massacre claimed the lives of 12,000 Palestinians.
