Jordan Travis was carted off the field after suffering a leg injury
Jordan Travis salutes the Florida State crowd after being carted off the field in the first quarter with a leg injury.
Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis was carried off the field with a blow to his left leg after he was injured during a first-quarter run against North Alabama on Saturday night.
Travis crossed midfield as North Alabama players came to tackle. His leg bent beneath him at an awkward angle as he landed on the grass and remained on the ground. The coaches immediately rushed to him as the sellout crowd at Florida State fell silent.
Teammates knelt and watched, stunned, as the cart came out for him. An air cast was placed on his leg, and as he was loaded onto the cart, the crowd began chanting “Jordan Travis.” He was immediately taken to an ambulance after being carted off the field.
“Obviously our thoughts are with Jordan right now, but I was proud of how our guys fought back,” Florida State coach Mike Norvell said in a halftime interview with the CW. “I don’t have an update, but obviously things didn’t look good.”
Travis led Florida State to an undefeated season and a recent stretch to a No. 4 ranking. In his sixth year, Travis has developed into one of the best quarterbacks in the country after starting his career as a Wildcat quarterback at Florida State.
Norvell saw promise in Travis and helped him become a complete player – using both his running and passing skills in 16 straight wins. This season, Travis has thrown for 2,734 yards with 20 touchdowns and two interceptions, adding seven rushing touchdowns.
Tate Rodemaker, who served as Travis’ backup the past two seasons, replaced him for the game and led the Seminoles to 24 unanswered points and a 24-13 halftime lead.
