Impaired abilities: He falls asleep after hitting a median with his car

A man was woken from his nap Saturday and arrested by Sherbrooke police officers after he crashed into a median in the Plaza de l’Ouest parking lot.

On Saturday around 12:30 p.m., a citizen called the Sherbrooke Police Department (SPS) to report that her vehicle had just struck a median. Thanks to a good description of the car, the police found the suspect in the parking lot of the Plaza de l’Ouest on Bourque Boulevard, the SPS said in a press release on Saturday.

To arrest the 45-year-old man, the police had to take him from Morpheus’ arms and discovered that he was very drunk.

The man was therefore arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a weapon and drug trafficking. After the arrest, a loaded handgun (pistol) and drugs were found in the vehicle.

The man, well known to police, remained in custody on Saturday evening and will appear in court later in the day on Sunday on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of drugs for the purpose of drug trafficking, as well as several breaches of the law on probation.
