President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has already received more than 1,400 gifts since taking office in January. The list includes items from different countries, as well as souvenirs given by ordinary citizens.
According to the newspaper O Globo, most of the tape came from this last group. Individuals sent 876 items, including nutritional supplements, essential oils and clothespins.
Lula also received 228 gifts from companies that also gave strange gifts. For example, a mining company in Bahia sent the president a screw, while an Argentine company offered a needle.
The list also includes 161 jerseys from various sources, most of them from football teams. Corinthian, the president has a souvenir of the Paraguayan striker Romero in his collection. On Thursday 16th, he also received a copy from Duílio Monteiro Alves, the club’s president, during a meeting to negotiate Corinthians’ debts with Caixa.
When it comes to gifts from other nations, China is the leader with 31 objects. The list includes a kimono from the South China Agricultural University (SCAU), a sculpture from the New Development Bank and an ornamental vase from the manufacturer Huawei. Most were received during the presidential visit to Asia in April.
In addition to China, 48 other countries are on the list. Angola, for example, offered 16 gifts, including sculptures and paintings. The items from Japan include a pair of sneakers, a knife and a pair of binoculars in equal quantities.

As for Saudi Arabia, the gift to Lula was a document holder from Mohammed bin Salman, the country’s prime minister and prince. In addition, after Brazil remained neutral in the war, both Russia and Ukraine brought their greetings: a box and a document holder, respectively.
A watch was offered from Finland, while a total of 21 necklaces came from Venezuela and TimorLeste. There is no information available about the material of the items.
Lula also received souvenirs from celebrities. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin gave him a signed guitar when the two met in March. The Nobel Peace Prize winner, the Indian Kailash Satyarthi, honored two books with a total of 485 objects, the most common type of object among those present.
