Gabrielle Fontaine, Chloée Deblois, Guillaume Pineault, Micheline Bernard, Lunou Zucchini, her sister Patricia, her brother Christophe and the entire Pepper family entered the in an opening number that beautifully describes the crazy universe of the guest of En direct de l’univers Stage to a selection of up-tempo songs.
We felt at that moment that the evening would truly reflect him.
Nostalgic and romantic are apparently adjectives that suit Matthieu Pepper well. Shortly before the break, Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais offered him a completely explosive interpretation of “I Think of You”, with his shirt unbuttoned to the navel, as a nod to this great romantic.
Finally, Louis Morissette, whom he considers a mentor, “dared” to pass the bill for Matthieu, which greatly surprised him.
His father and Ginette
Matthieu confessed that his father was a big fan of Ginette Reno. He said he even wrote songs for her, which he sent to the singer by mail.

To end this block on a lighter note, Sam Breton wanted to create a laugh with a song, which seemed to have the desired effect.
His mother and Zachary
In the hut, while washing up, he sings the song “Tennessee Whiskey” at the top of his lungs, as well as “Au bord du lac Bijou”, a piece that touches him every time. It was the great Zachary Richard who performed it for him.
Matthieu simply collapsed.
His mother Nycole had previously sung him his favorite lullaby, the song of the little sailboat, in her own way.
Mathieu Magny, his tour director, as well as his best friends Alexis Poulin and Mathieu Lacroix joined forces to perform Dis-moi pas ça.
Then followed Stéphane Rousseau, who came on stage to delight his friend Matthieu with Femme de rêve.
We end the television version of En direct de l’univers with Le shack à Hector, Cowboys Fringants… and the surprise arrival of Véronique Cloutier.
A delicious moment.
Homage to Karl Tremblay
In extra time, France Beaudoin’s team wanted to pay tribute to Karl Tremblay, the leader of the Cowboys Fringants who died on November 15, on the Radio-Canada website.
Several artists took part in this beautiful moment, including Paul Piché, Mara Tremblay, Catherine Durand, Sara Dufour, as well as everyone who was present in the Saturday evening show.
This moving gathering began to the sounds of “America is Cray” and with the voice of Paul Piché.
Sara Dufour followed with “Pub Royal,” a piece she sang on Karl’s last birthday.
The shooting stars sounded thanks to the violin of Mara Tremblay and the voice of Catherine Durand in a series of photos of the great Karl.
We ended this expansion with a medley of songs by the group, consisting of Ti-cul, Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais’ favorite song, La Manifestation, Merchant Marine, Salut mon Ron, On my Shoulder and Tant qu’on aura de l’ love.
Note that Matthieu Pepper’s universe was the last one before the big New Year’s party.
