Outside A Fazenda, Sander cries as he confronts addiction: ‘I buried my drugged father’ TV

Sander Mecca was the latest to be eliminated from A Fazenda 15, a reality show on Record. The singer took part in a dynamic in the Hora do Faro program this Sunday (19) and became emotional remembering his battle with drugs. He regretted that his father hadn’t seen him sober.

The former member of the band Twister publicly struggled with his addiction. Between 2003 and 2005 he was in prison for drug trafficking. In 2019, while participating in Hora do Faro, Mecca agreed to be admitted to a rehabilitation clinic after a relapse.

The 40yearold artist couldn’t hold back his tears when he saw the scene again. “It worked, didn’t it, old man?” said Rodrigo Faro. “What hurts me the most is that my father didn’t see me clean. It is very difficult, I buried my father with drugs,” Mecca replied.

After his father’s death, the singer met his girlfriend Adriana. She was central to his sobriety. The couple are parents to oneyearold Sofia. “It gave me more strength. I never loved myself. When I took drugs, I asked God to take my life. Adriana saved my life, that’s why I want to marry her. “I never get tired of talking about her because I respect and honor her so much,” he said.

“It wasn’t easy, she suffered from relapses. Thank God it has been a year, nine months and a day since I was clean of all substances. It’s worth it,” he added.
