Bolivia against wars and blockades

“We are against wars, unilateral sanctions and blockades of people, which our President Luis Arce has reiterated in all national spaces and on international stages,” the boss said in statements to Prensa Latina.

As the first woman to head Bolivian diplomacy under democratic conditions – Karen Longaric was chancellor of the de facto government (2019-2020) – Prada recalled the proposals reiterated by Arce, which refer to integration mechanisms that are not based on illogical forms of Production and reproduction are based on capital, but on life.

“To achieve this, it is necessary to strengthen spaces of solidarity, complementarity and reciprocity and also work to achieve growth with social justice,” he said.

He stressed that the plurinational state also intends to promote the establishment of the world as a zone of peace, an initiative adopted for this continent at the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States in Havana in 2014 and which President Arce reaffirmed for the planet at the United Nations General Assembly.

“For me it is undoubtedly a pride,” admitted Prada, “to take on this great responsibility as interim foreign minister of Bolivia and to support our president and our government in this task.”

He emphasized that President Arce is the greatest international representative at the state level in foreign policy and gave clear guidance on the principles that guide this government activity.

“They are not only a formal diplomacy, but also that of the peoples, based on dignity and respect for the self-determination of states, respect for sovereignty and the rejection of all forms of oppression and exploitation,” it says.

Referring to Israel’s aggressiveness in the Middle East, he confirmed the Bolivian government’s support for the State of Palestine and condemnation of the attacks by Zionist troops on the Gaza Strip, as well as support for the search for a peaceful solution.

He quoted President Arce as recalling that the suffering of the Palestinian people “does not come from now but from years ago” and called for appropriate measures to be taken.

The interim foreign minister reported that Bolivia, as a member of the International Criminal Court, had requested an investigation into the violence committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

“We believe that it is necessary for the world to know what is happening (…) as established in our political constitution of the State, we are a people of a culture of peace, rejecting all forms of war and in this sense.” “We are committed to a free, independent Palestinian state in which the Palestinian people live truly in peace,” the leader confirmed.

On October 31, Bolivia announced its decision to break off diplomatic relations with Israel, rejecting its troops’ aggressive and disproportionate military offensive in the Gaza Strip, which threatens international peace and security.

Prada was appointed Bolivia’s final interim chancellor on November 14, replacing Rogelio Mayta, who will take over as judge of the Court of Justice of the Andean Community.

The national government made the change official through Presidential Decree 5058 of November 9, 2020, repealing 4389 regarding the appointment of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, appointing Prada as interim holder of this portfolio pending a decision on the new appointment.
