Amy Nuttall has announced that her mother Elaine has died.
The 41-year-old Downton Abbey star shared the devastating news with her Instagram followers on Sunday, revealing that her mother had died in her arms just four months after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Amy, who recently split from cheating husband Andrew Buchan for the second time, updated her followers alongside a gallery of snaps with her mother.
She wrote: “My heart is beating loudly as I write this.” Yesterday I said goodbye to my beautiful, loving mom. She was diagnosed with glioblastoma (grade 4) in July. To say it was the biggest shock would be an understatement.
“Together with my wonderful family, we cared for her until the end until she died in my arms as I lay next to her at 5:05 p.m. on 10/30/23.”

Amy continued: “She has humbled us all with the way she has dealt with this cruel diagnosis… she never complained, always smiled and brought out her silly sense of humor every day. “Mom, you were my rock. Always. My best friend.

The heartbreaking loss is the latest tragedy to befall Amy following the breakdown of her marriage.
In August, it was revealed that Amy had “separated from her cheating husband Andrew for the second time” after he failed to abide by the marital rules she imposed on him following his “affair” with Leila Farzad.
The former Emmerdale star took the 44-year-old actor back after his relationship with his 41-year-old co-star came to light in February – but presented him with a list of tough demands to help them rebuild their marriage.
“Eviscerated” Amy then finally ended their 11-year marriage and kicked him out of the family home, which they shared with their two children.
A source told The Sun: “It took a lot for Amy to give the marriage another chance, but she thought it was worth one last roll of the dice.”

They added: “She is obviously disappointed but also accepts that their time together has come to an end.”
In February this year it was revealed that Andrew had reportedly left his wife of 11 years, Amy, for Leila, 41, with whom he stars in the BBC crime series Better.
But just a few weeks later, Leila is said to have returned to her husband James Maizels, while Andrew returned to his family. The Sun reported that Andrew told a friend: “We are on the road to healing.”
In July, it was claimed that Amy had given her husband seven strict rules for him to follow after their reunion in order to rekindle their relationship.
According to The Sun, as they followed the 777 approach, Amy apparently demanded weekly dates, unrestricted access to each other’s phones and absolutely no outside contact with any co-stars.
It has been reported that Andrew also has to stay in touch via FaceTime when he is on the road.
“No one thought they could get out of it, but Amy decided to give it another try,” a source told the publication.

The 777 approach represents three of the rules, and the last one states that their work should be done on an equal basis, it was reported.
Speculation about the couple reuniting arose the previous month when Andrew left his family home in June wearing his gold wedding ring.
Around the same time, Amy was seen at the property without her ring, but insiders suspected they were trying again.
A source close to the couple told The Sun: “Amy was understandably devastated when she found out about the infidelity and wanted a clean break and a fresh start.”
“But Andrew came back to her and promised her he would change.”
“They have resolved their issues and are trying to put the love triangle behind them for the good of their family.”
It was originally thought that the couple had split after Amy reportedly called for a divorce from her husband Andrew in March, just weeks after news of their split broke, but it appears her wishes have changed.
After being devastated by her husband’s alleged infidelity, sources told The Sun that Amy would take back power following the betrayal, while also claiming that Andrew and Leila had parted ways.

Andrew is said to have left the family home after their affair came to light and moved in with Leila after meeting her while working together on the BBC series.
Leila married her husband James Maizels in 2013 and they have a daughter who was born in 2014.
Andrew’s alleged affair with Leila was exposed after Amy discovered he had purchased sexy lingerie in a size that was not her own.
Friends claimed the actor informed Amy of his desire to end the marriage just before Christmas.
